The Natural Antibiotic
Newsweek Magazine, March 28, 1994 Colloidal Silver may prove to be one of the best remedies that the public has to protect themselves from a massive health crises now in the making. "A 65-year-old diabetic cut himself on the leg. He washed and bandage it but, as often happens with diabetes, the pain persisted, and the cut grew into a sore. Soon it became bigger than the bandage, and he had to apply a dressing. Still, it grew bigger and ugly. In desperation he went to a clinic. His sore was diagnosed as a 'stasis ulcer.' For a year, one treatment after another was tried. Nothing, including penicillin and sulfonamide, could heal the ulcer. If his condition had continued unchecked, his leg probably would have been amputated. But finally he was referred to a clinic that treated skin ulcers with a silver compound. This promptly stopped the growth of all bacteria. In less than two months, the ulcer was completely healed." -Science Digest-March 1978
"We have had instant success with Colloidal Silver and immune compromised patients. A few examples are: Pink eye (topical) totally resolved in less than six hours; recurrent sinus infections (oral ingestion) resolved in eight days; acute cuticle infections - (topical) - twenty four hours. Another major area in which we have improved our clinical results is in the area of bowel detoxification and dysbiosis. The Colloidal Silver has provided excellent removal of abnormal intestinal bacteria; also it has proved to be a great adjunct to our Candida albicans, Epstein Barr Virus and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome protocols." Dr. Evan M., Kansas.
History of Colloidal Silver
The properties of silver have been known for centuries. In ancient civilizations, the wealthy stored their water in silver vessels to keep bacteria from growing . Similarly, American settlers often put a silver dollar in milk containers to delay its spoilage.
It was not until the late 1800's that Western scientists were able to prove what had been known in Eastern medicine for thousands of yearsthat silver was a proven germ fighter! After learning that the body's chief fluids were colloidal in nature, the endless possibilities which could occur from the use of colloids in medicine were recognized. As a result a silver solution known as Colloidal Silver became widely used in medicine as one of the main-stays of antimicrobial treatment.
Throughout the early 1900's Colloidal Silver rapidly gained recognition as one of the best infection-preventive agents, but unfortunately its use was short lived. The high cost of silver combined with the fact that silver solutions could not be patented, motivated the development of more profitable and more potent infection-fighting drugs. Silver was put on the back burner while the powerful new antibiotic drugs became the choice of medical treatment. But serious problems developed. Thirty years after the discovery of antibiotics, many types of bacteria once susceptible to these drugs had built an immunity to their action.
Silver's comeback in medicine began in the 1970's. Now, the technology exists to properly manufacture Colloidal Silver, and at a much more economical price.
"And now it's silver that is finding wholly new uses as a wonder in modern medicine...perhaps it soon will be recognized as: OUR MIGHTIEST GERM FIGHTER." Science Digest, March, 1978
Today, silver is used by the Soviets to sterilize recycled water aboard the space stations. NASA selected a silver water system for the space shuttle. Many of the world's airlines use silver water filters to protect passengers from diseases such as dysentery. Silver has been effectively used to replace chlorine in swimming pool water and, it does not sting the eyes.
What Is A Colloid?
A colloid is a solution consisting of ultra-fine particles suspended in an aqueous (liquid) medium. All living things exist in the colloidal state. Most over-the-counter medications are in a crystalline state. Before any medication can exert its full therapeutic action it must first be converted into a colloidal state.
What Is Colloidal Silver?
Properly manufactured Colloidal Silver is a liquid solution consisting of submicroscopic particles of silver, held in suspension in pure water by the tiny electrical charge placed on each particle.
In this type of colloid the ideal size of the silver particles falls within the range of 0.005 - 0.015 microns in diameter. These particles are electrically charged so the silver particles can become active and remain suspended in water without any artificial additives or stabilizers. This is called a "true" Colloid of Silver.
What Does Colloidal Silver Do?
Colloidal Silver acts as a powerful, broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent. An ordinary antibiotic kills perhaps a half-dozen different disease organisms, but silver is known to be effective against over 650 disease organisms without causing any known side-effects.
What Do Health Professionals Say About Silver and Colloidal
Dr. Bjorn Nordenstrom, of the Larolinska Institute, Sweden, has successfully used silver as a component in his cancer treatments for many years.
Dr. Leonard Keene Hirschberg, A. M., M. D. (John Hopkins) states, "Speaking generally, the colloidal metals are especially remarkable for their beneficial action in infective states."
Dr. Richard L. Davies, executive director of the Silver Institute, which monitors silver technology in 37 countries, reports: "In four years we've described 87 important new medical uses for silver. We're just beginning to see to what extent silver can relieve suffering."What is the Best Concentration to Use?
"Colloidal Silver is a potent natural anti-microbial that has been known to affect one-celled organisms on a cellular level. However, tests on Colloidal Silver, using 3-5ppm, have been in vitro. In vitro means the tests were not done inside the human body but rather in a test tube environment. When Colloidal Silver enters a person's system, the concentration of 20ppm is diluted. Once Colloidal Silver has entered the system, the 20 ppm concentration is in the range of 3-5 ppm. Conversely, there is no dilution in tests that are in vitro.
For this reason, 20 ppm seems to be the optimal concentration for the human body to utilize Colloidal Silver, the same concentration in which the body uses Colloidal Silver in vitro at 3-5 ppm." - Dr. Ron Surowitz DO (past president of the Florida Osteopathic Association)
